Whole Foods Settles $800,000 in FCRA Employment Background Check Case

 According to the website Top Class, Whole Foods Market Group Inc. has agreed to a nearly $803,000 class action lawsuit settlement over allegations that the natural grocery store chain violated the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA) by not properly disclosing to prospective employees that they were running a background check.

Lead plaintiff and former Whole Foods employee Colin Speer filed the background check class action lawsuit in December 2014

Bank of America Class Action Background Check Case Dismissed

According to the website, Bank of America successfully beat a class-action lawsuit filed in California. A California federal judge tossed a putative class action that accused Bank of America of unlawfully obtaining Consumer Reports as part of its background checks. This type of lawsuit is similar to those filed against Publix Super Markets and Food Lion which ended in both firms settling for near $10 million.
