RI School Volunteers Required to Undergo Background Checks

There has been a nationwide trend toward expanding the scope of background checks for safety-sensitive positions. Such was the case when Rhode Island's governor recently signed into law a measure that would require all volunteers at schools to first earn clearance from a screening before being able to work with children.

Rhode Island legislature considers background checks on senior care attendants

Recently, state bills have focused on increasing screenings at childcare facilities, but Rhode Island has gone to the other side of the spectrum and is now weighing its background check options in regard to senior care attendants.
