Retaliation Claims Continue to Rise

For the seventh year in a row, retaliation claims top the list of the EEOC’s most frequent charge against employers. With over 90,000 charges filed in 2016, 45% of the claims involved retaliation against an employee that either involved adverse action or discharge. The trend to file against employers for retaliatory action shows no end in sight. 2016 saw almost 5,000 more charges than 2015, with more than $482 million in recovery received from employers in the private sector and government agencies.

Texas: 32% of Criminal background Check Convictions Missed.

  • 638 individuals screened for Texas Criminal records
  • 135 individuals with criminal records were found
  • 43 were not reported by TXDPS
  • 89  unique criminal record cases were not reported by the TXDPS
  • 26  of these unique records are felonies
  • 63 of these unique records are MisdemeanorsOur facts:

After an internal evaluation of Texas Department of Public Safety criminal record accuracy, Pre-employ.com is urging employers who screen individuals in the state of Texas to contest two bills currently being considered (TX BILLS H2700 & H4114).

In our opinion, these two bills significantly undermine public safety and were recently reported out of committee.

All About the Mugshot

In our line of work, we see mugshots every day. On a busy day, we can process over 10,000 criminal record requests. Every once in a while we like to share a bit of the Mugshots we have run across that are interesting. Sometimes funny, sometimes historical or sometimes just hard to believe, we see them all.  Take the toaster torturer for example....She was arrested in Sarasota, Florida after beating her husband with a toaster for not cooking her breakfast correctly.  Someone was feeling extra crazy this morning or maybe she was just super hungry!
